POTAPENKO, HUNG NAB SKINS

George Potapenko of Brecksville didn't wait long to draw first blood in the Big Skins Blowout at Sweetbriar on Labor Day Monday. In the first group of the day on the first hole of the tournament, Potapenko eagled the 525 yard par-5 with a drive, a three wood to 12 feet and a center-cut putt to take a big skin.

Jeff Hung of Westlake grabbed the second skin of the day, making eagle on the par-5 17th hole with a drive, a 2-iron to 10 feet and a putt. Hung dodged some bullets in winning his skin, as several competitors also had eagle putts on the hole but none found the cup.

For the record, all holes were birdied in multiples on the day except the difficult par-4 third hole, which had no birdies. Also, there were no eagles on the par-5 12th hole or the par-5 18th hole, both of which were playing downwind with middle irons to the green.

A total of 50 players competed.
